MICHIGAN HARVEST GATHERING

Statewide campaign that raises food and funds for Michigan's emergency food response.
Food donations are being collected at Michigan Secretary of State offices from September 25, 2018 to November 21, 2018  Drop off non-expired, non-perishable food items for the Michigan Harvest Gathering program.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Receive SSI
  • Have no other income (including FAP cash assistance)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Reside in Michigan
  • Are not institutionalized
  • You buy and prepare food separately from others or are too disabled to do so
Food benefits will be placed on a Bridge Card to use when you buy groceries.

​MEALS-ON-WHEELS
​Meals on wheels is a private, non-profit, volunteer-based service that provides:
  • Delivers meals to home-bound persons (aged 60 or older or adults with disabilities) who are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves enabling them to maintain independence and continue to live in their own homes.  This includes the ill and recently hospitalized.
  • Provides daily contact with a trained volunteer who provides important social interaction and a link to the community.
  • Provides referral information to other appropriate community resources as needed.
  • Meals are delivered Monday - Friday at midday, and begins within five (5) to seven (7) days after application.
  • Monthly bills for the cost of meals are provided to each participant but no one is denied service due to the inability to pay.

SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM (SFSP)

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer break while the regular school year is out of session.  The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) serves free meals to children 18 years and under at approved SFSP sites across the country.

Anticipated Reach: 200 million children
Income eligibility guidelines applied - effective July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019
