Trial date is set for Marshella Chidester, defendant in the birthday party crash at the Swan Boat Club charged with killing two siblings and injuring fifteen others while driving under the influence, who did not appear for her most recent court proceeding on Friday, December 6th, attended only by her defense attorney, Bill Colovos, via Zoom at the date and time scheduled for a pretrial hearing before Judge Daniel White, 43rd Oakland County Circuit Court in Monroe County, Michigan.
Attorney Colovos presented to the court with a recent injury, requesting an adjournment of the hearing for the third time after, reportedly, sustaining a broken leg from a fall. Judge White advised regarding motions filed by the defense received late Wednesday evening including requests for a change of venue and to exclude statements made by the defendant at the scene of the crime on April 20, 2025, according to court records. The prosecution informed they would need time to respond to the motions which would be due January 10th and requested an extension. Judge White granted the extension scheduling a Motion Hearing on January 17, 2025 at 10 AM. The court also proceeded with the case schedule as previously advised and set the trial date on March 3, 2025 at 8 AM. Judge White blocked the full week on the court’s calendar through March 7th to allow additional days needed. The prosecution informed a second week may be required to complete the trial. Judge White made the following orders regarding the case schedule:
